This fresh cranberry relish is very easy and always on our Thanksgiving table. We like to make extra and can it for the rest of the season. Put a bow on a jar of cranberry relish for a nice holiday party hostess gift.
Ingredients for McGuire Cranberry Relish
- 1 quart fresh cranberries
- 3/4 C. water
- 1 C. brown sugar
- 1/4 t. cinnamon
- 1/4 t. fresh ground cloves
- 1/4 t. fresh ground allspice
- 1/8 t. mace
- 1 t. orange zest
Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Simmer for 25 minutes until berries are soft and most have burst. Use a potato masher to break down sauce to your desired consistency. Makes about 3 cups.
The tartness of cranberries can vary quite a bit, so you may need to adjust spices and sugar to your preferred taste.
You mean cranberry relish doesn’t just come from a jar in the store? This looks like a recipe that I can handle! 🙂
